The Medical Council of Malawi Information System (MCMIS) is an online platform designed to digitize and streamline the Council’s core operations and administrative functions.
About MCMIS
MCMIS is an integrated information management system that enhances how the Council oversees and delivers its services. Through this system, the Council will provide faster, more reliable, and user-friendly services to practitioners, training institutions, health facilities and the general public.
Core Functions of the MCMIS
The system digitizes the Council’s key operations, including:
Student Indexing
Registration and tracking medical, dental and allied health students from enrollment to qualification.
Practitioner Registration
Supporting online applications for new registrations, renewals, requesting for certificates of good standing (COGS), and updates to practitioner records.
Facility Registration
Allowing health facilities to register, renew, and maintain compliance with requirements.
Private Practice Licensing
Simplifying the licensing process for registered practitioners wishing to work in or own private health facilities including clinics.
Training Institution and Program Registration
Facilitating the accreditation and monitoring of training institutions and academic programs as provided for in the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Act.
Inspection Management
Digitally recording, monitoring, and tracking inspection outcomes for health facilities, CPD providers, internship sites and training institutions.
Camp Registration
Enabling the registration of camps to provide medical, dental and allied health services through special arrangements.
Disciplinary and Complaints Handling
Streamlining the reporting of healthcare related complaints from patients and the public, and processing of the complaints by the Council.
Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
Providing tools for both CPD Providers, Practitioners and the MCM to manage CPD activities online.
